Gotham Underground Poster

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 10, 2008, 3:59 PM
Just FYI if you liked my recent deviation of the Gotham Underground you can find the full size poster available in November from DC comics. It should be out on November 26th for about $8. I don't get anything out of it, but I thought some of you might like to know.

Flight of the Phantom Eagle

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 18, 2008, 11:17 AM
One of my new series hits stands this week. "War is Hell: Flight of the Phantom Eagle" is published through Marvel's Max imprint. Which means it's a mature readers title. I just found this early review on comicbookresources.com

"War Is Hell: The First Flight of the Phantom Eagle" #1: I forgot about this book, but it's out this week. It's Garth Ennis doing what he does best -- writing World War I stories. This time, it's about a British man who flies onto a base and lies his way into the fighting squadron in the early days of air warfare. There's a lot of questions as to just what exactly is going on here, but Ennis doesn't overwhelm you with it. He creates, instead, scenes that are satisfying and that will carry you through the book. Howard Chaykin's art is the best it's looked since he returned to comics regularly a few short years ago. Maybe it's the source material he has to work with here that inspires him, but everything looks authentic and detailed. The airplane battles are especially compelling. (There might be a Sketch-Up airplane model or two involved.) Brian Reber's coloring helps everything pop out, and Todd Klein's lettering is relevant to the book, particularly the worn typewriter-style font he uses in captions.

If you're looking for a war comic, this is a good one." - Augie De Blieck Jr.

Uncanny X-Cast interview

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 26, 2008, 11:12 AM
Hey everyone. I recently had the pleasure of doing an interview for the Uncanny X-Cast podcast. It's part of episode 36. You can download it through itunes. It starts around the 1 hour 18 minute mark and goes for a good 40 minutes or so.

What's on tap..

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 28, 2008, 2:15 PM
I just finished a whirlwind of deadlines over the holidays. My run on X-factor and X-men have come to a conclusion. Messiah Complex was probably the most fun I've had on a series. Also, Captain America: The Chosen is coming to it's conclusion. Which it was probably the longest 6 issue series I've ever worked on. Lot of work went into that one.

So what's left for me? Right now I'm still coloring away on Gotham Underground at DC Comics. We are about halfway done with it. I'm also starting on a new project called "War is Hell: the Phantom Eagle" for Marvel's MAX line. Garth Ennis is writing and Howard Chaykin is providing the lines. If you liked what I did on Captain America Chosen then check out Phantom Eagle when it hits. Other than that I'm just doing the occasional cover here and there.
